Saturday’s Rio Nightlife Pick: Saturday is The American Society of Rio de Janeiro’s annual Monster Bash for ghouls and goblins of all ages. This year they will partner with U.S. Marine Corps and provide activities for the little munsters and drink specials at night for mummys and daddys.

The legacy of Black Rio will never die as long as soul, funk, and disco are played in rapid succession at nights like this one. The Soul, Baby, Soul! crew is lucky enough to graced by Leandro Petersen, son of DJ Big Boy, an original from the 1970s Rio scene, as well as Sir Dema and Lucio Branco.

Wonka Party (Botafogo)
October is a month-long excuse for Halloween themed nights in Rio, this time a “frightening” take on Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory with DJs Carla Avila, Polly, and Rick Castro.

On a lively street sprinkled with bars, Ponto da Bossa Nova is a cozy wood-lined space with a small outdoor patio that makes a peaceful spot during the day, and the jumpin’ scene you’re looking for at night. True to its name, there’s live bossa nova on Tuesday and Saturday nights.
