Rio Sets Up Massive Security Operation for BRICS Summit

Rio de Janeiro will host the BRICS Summit on July 6 and 7, 2025, bringing together leaders from major countries like Brazil, China, Russia, India, and South Africa.

The Brazilian government confirmed these details and has prepared a large security plan to keep everyone safe. Officials will deploy about 17,000 security personnel across the city.

This group includes 15,500 military police officers and 1,400 civil police agents. The federal government has also allowed the Armed Forces—Army, Navy, and Air Force—to help keep order from July 2 to July 9.

All teams used special equipment and followed strict safety rules. Police stations along the routes used by summit guests will be ready to help anyone in trouble.

A mobile command center near the Museum of Modern Art, where some meetings will happen, will help police and military coordinate their work.
