Renewable energies center a new European Investment Forum in Uruguay

Transforming the future through renewable energies will be the mission of the IV European Investment Forum in Uruguay, framed in the InsPYraME UE program, which seeks to train small and medium-sized companies in the South American country.

This was highlighted this Thursday during the presentation of the aforementioned forum, held at the Executive Tower (headquarters of the Presidency) in Montevideo.

As detailed in a material shared there, the program will seek to ensure that Uruguayan MSMEs can “make the most of” the opportunities of the EU-Mercosur agreement.

According to this, it will contribute to “the creation of employment and the improvement in the competitiveness of companies with a gender perspective, facilitating the empowerment of women and young people”.

The document added that InsPYraME UE is aimed at small and medium-sized companies in the South American country and that the program will last 30 months in which training workshops and national investment forums will be held, while technical assistance will be provided.

At the meeting, the EU ambassador to Uruguay, the Italian Paolo Berizzi, stressed that the theme of this new investment forum “is the energy transition and renewable energies.”

“This is a key issue for both the EU and Uruguay. That is why we promote this instance of rapprochement with Uruguay, to promote a common strategic view of public policies and also promote new economic ties and bilateral investments,” he said.

At the same time, he remarked that “political, economic, commercial and investment” relations with Uruguay “are excellent.”

“The harmony we have in the international forums in which we participate are further proof of this rapprochement and a reflection of our shared values,” he concluded.

For her part, the deputy executive director of the Agency for the Promotion of Investments, Exports and Country Image, Uruguay XXI, Inés Bonicelli, stressed the importance of the event since it contributes to her work of positioning the country “as a recipient of foreign investment”.

“We are also excited that this year the focus is on renewable energies, a sector in which Uruguay, as everyone knows, is standing out,” she added.

Finally, Ella Bonicelli pointed out that the EU “is and has been a strategic partner for Uruguay, both as a trade partner and as an investor.”
