Mozambique to repair key road in conflict-torn Cabo Delgado

Governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, revealed that the project will involve leveling and filling potholes over a 40-kilometer stretch, aiming to improve mobility for families returning to their homes following displacement caused by the conflict.

A military response, backed by Rwanda and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), has been active since July 2021.

However, new attacks have sprung up in southern regions and the neighboring province of Nampula.

According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED), the conflict has resulted in approximately one million displaced persons and around 4,000 fatalities.
