Monday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Samba is played best here in Rio, especially on Monday nights with Richas at Carioca da Gema. Monday nights have won the acclaim of the public, with a style of samba that makes Lapa shake, step and boogie.

Depicting the blocos and styles of the classic Rio samba schools, the band has an incredible array of brilliant percussionists. This night is truly the definition of Rio samba, with a four hour jam session that unites the powerful impact of song, rhythmic drumming and harmony.

Hosted at Carioca da Gema, one of Lapa’s finest live music venues and spectacular pizzaria, Richas has earned the praise of the public and made Monday nights anything but dull.

A two story boat converts into a night club with top DJs and breathtaking scenery. Happy hour with free drinks before midnight. Amazing views as the boat travels around the Guanabara bay.

Classic roda de samba with an emphasis on the music’s African roots. One of the best in the city performs every Monday night in the Gamboa area of Centro.

Roda de Samba com Richas (Lapa)
Tonight has won the acclaim of the public. This samba in Lapa shakes with brilliant percussionists, a mixture of the band Zeca Pagodinho, depicting the trials of the blocos of the samba schools.

Lapa Cafe Humor (Lapa)

Shenanigan’s Live Music (Ipanema)
Shenanigan’s is always a good spot to check out on the weekends, with live music and all sorts of pub games such as darts and pool. Monday is also half-price steak night until 9PM.

Mab’s Restaurant and Bar (Copacabana)
