Lula embarks on new trip to Europe, visiting Italy and France
Brazil’s President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, embarks on another journey to Europe on Monday evening (19) for bilateral meetings with the governments of Italy and France.
In the first leg of his trip on Tuesday (20), the President is set to meet Italian Prime Minister Sergio Mattarella and the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, who had visited him during his incarceration in Curitiba in 2018.
Itamaraty has not disclosed the agenda of these meetings.
On Wednesday (21), Lula is scheduled to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican, who is currently recovering from an abdominal surgery performed on June 7.

Finally, on Thursday (22), the Brazilian President will travel to Paris to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron to attend the New Global Financial Pact, a conference focusing on sustainable economy.
Macron extended an invitation to the summit at the beginning of June, stating that “the world needs a green economy that leaves no one behind, together we can create a new financial pact.”
This will be Lula’s seventh international trip since taking office in January, having previously visited Argentina, Uruguay, the United States, China, the United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
