The president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Alexandre de Moraes, granted Lula da Silva’s request and scheduled his inauguration, and that of the vice-president-elect, Geraldo Alckmin, for Dec. 12.

The TSE released the information on Tuesday night (Nov. 29).

The event was scheduled for 2 pm at the court headquarters in Brasilia.

Until then, the president of the TSE had scheduled the inauguration of Lula da Silva and Alckmin for Dec. 19, the last day of the deadline provided by electoral legislation.

However, the Workers Party PT candidate (progressive-globalist) asked for the date to be brought forward.

The inauguration is a ceremony organized by the electoral courts to formalize the choice of the person elected by the majority of Brazilians at the polls.

During the event, which marks the end of the electoral process, the respective diplomas signed by the president of the TSE, minister Alexandre de Moraes, will be delivered.

With this act, the elected candidates are sworn in and empowered to exercise their mandate.

The delivery of the documents takes place after the end of the election, the counting of the votes, and the expiration of the questioning and processing deadlines of the voting results.

On the other hand, the 27 Regional Electoral Courts (TREs) are the courts responsible for diploma delivery to the politicians chosen for the remaining disputed positions.

In the 2022 General Elections, besides the heads of the Federal Executive Branch, the electorate also elected representatives to the Legislative Assemblies and the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (CLDF), the House of Representatives, the Federal Senate, and the state governments.
