RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – ProColombia announced that, as part of its participation in ExpoDubai, Colombia is forging ahead as a potential luxury tourism destination for the economies of the Middle East.

The announcement and the National Government’s objective are essential considering that tourism from this region is growing at 6.8% per year.

ProColombia explains that the segment is even more relevant for Colombia if one takes into account that 12% of global tourism spending is represented by Muslim Friendly Tourism.

“This is a new concept that is revolutionizing global tourism, which has generated more than US$180 billion and which contemplates tourist offers that are being adapted to Muslim culture,” warned ProColombia.

COLOMBIA’S CARDS

In that sense, Colombia continues to make progress in offering a market of high-quality restaurants and hotels, in addition to having an interest in improving options and infrastructure for business tourism.

“The luxury that Colombia has is its incredible nature that abounds in every corner of the territory. We are the first most biodiverse country in the world per square meter”, said about the announcement Flavia Santoro, president of ProColombia.

Therefore, Colombia is advancing in offering haute cuisine, private helicopter expeditions in destinations such as Ciudad Perdida on the Caribbean coast, and glamping, among others.

ProColombia, it should be remembered, is part of several luxury tourism consortiums such as Virtuoso, Traveller Made, and Signature.

“Colombia is fascinating for its natural and cultural diversity and rich history. It also has something that many luxury travelers are looking for these days: remote places to discover, authenticity, and a promise of adventure,” said Quentin Desurmont, president and founder of Traveller Made.
