The draw keeps América at the top of the Apertura 2026 table, according to the broadcaster TUDN.

TUDN’s sister channels carry the league to US audiences. Monterrey confirmed the score in its own match report late on Saturday.

How the Club América Monterrey Match Unfolded

Monterrey, known as Rayados, scored first in the 18th minute. The club’s report said the visitors “started with intensity, looking for the rival’s goal.”

Belgian striker Hugo Cuypers crossed from the right, the club’s report said. Uruguayan forward Diego Rossi volleyed the ball into the top corner.

América equalised in first-half stoppage time. Uruguayan defender Santiago Bueno scored on the rebound after Monterrey goalkeeper Esteban Andrada had made a save, Monterrey’s report said.

Monterrey said its defender Ricardo Chávez blocked two further América chances. Neither side scored in the second half.

Liga MX draws a large television audience in the United States, mainly among Mexican-American viewers. TelevisaUnivision, which owns TUDN and the ViX streaming service, broadcasts many Liga MX matches.

The stadium, renamed Estadio Banorte under a naming-rights deal, hosted the 2026 World Cup opener on 11 June. It remains América’s home ground.

América was founded on 12 October 1916, so the club turns 110 on Monday. The league approved a special anniversary kit for the match, the news site Infobae reported on 8 October.

What Is Not Known

Reports differ on the exact minute of the red card and the first name of the América player sent off. Monterrey’s report names Cristian Borja; TUDN’s page names Miguel Borja.

América had not posted its own match report on its website by Sunday afternoon. Its news page listed no item on the game at the time of writing.
