Chile’s LATAM and Delta activate codeshare network for international flights between U.S. and South America

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Despite having some points of their codeshare agreement active, LATAM and Delta Airlines will now strongly expand their network to allow their customers access to over 20 international routes between the United States and South America, along with connections to domestic destinations and within the continent.

This will benefit the Chilean-Brazilian flag carrier by adding 8 new international routes to its offer, operated by its North American partner between South America and the United States, and 11 domestic destinations within the United States, from its home base in Atlanta.

Delta will add 12 international routes operated by the LATAM group between South America and the United States, flying from Miami, Orlando, New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX), as well as 7 inter-regional routes in South America and 4 new domestic destinations in Chile.

The announcement will benefit customers with more flights between the two regions: over 40 destinations in South America, including domestic routes in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, routes within South America, between South America and the United States, and more than 70 domestic routes within the United States.

Additionally, Delta and LATAM will complement their existing codeshare network in the coming months with new routes to Delta destinations in the U.S. and between the U.S. and Canada.

The extension of our codeshare agreement with the LATAM Group will allow us to expand the network of connected routes and customer benefits just as borders have reopened and passengers are again traveling freely,” said Delta Airlines’ international CEO Alain Bellemare.

The agreement between LATAM and Delta currently allows LATAM Pass® and SkyMiles® members to earn miles/points in their respective frequent flyer programs, including priority boarding, additional baggage check-in and VIP lounge access for select categories.

The goal is for customers to easily connect between Delta and LATAM flights at airports where the airlines have relocated to the same terminal. This includes Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport (New York), Terminal 3 at Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo and soon at Terminal 2 at Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Santiago de Chile.
