Casa Mosquito Set to Host The Rio Times 7-Year Anniversary Party

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Rio Times 7-Year Anniversary Party will be held on Saturday, May 7th, from 3PM to 10PM in Ipanema, and already has over three hundred people interested in attending. This is no doubt in part because of the amazing location at Casa Mosquito, the boutique hotel offering the use of their rooftop pool area and bar, with breathtaking views of the city.

Casa Mosquito was opened in 2011 by two french expatriates in Rio, Benjamin Cano Planès and Louis Planès. Housed in a former family home, the hotel has four bedrooms in the original building and a further five in a new extension which also features a roof-top bar, swimming pool and 360-degree views of Rio.

Benjamin Cano Planès explained how the space, views and atmosphere make for such a special place to hold events. “We believe it is the combination of all this, it becomes even more attractive when considering the privileged location. The decor, the service, the style of the setting, as well as panoramic postcard views of Rio, make Casa Mosquito a site that translates what Rio de Janeiro really is: a place to come together.”

When asked about what have been some of the most memorable events Casa Mosquito has hosted, Mr. Planès admits, “It is very difficult to choose a few in particular, because each one has its uniqueness and format.”

He adds. “[We have] held events for the fashion industry crowd, charities, corporate, leasing for music video shoots, editorial, and we will be the official residence for the king of Belgium during the Olympic Games. It would be unfair to choose a single event.”

Editor and Publisher of The Rio Times, Stone Korshak, shares his thoughts on the location for the event, “Although we had published an article about the development of Rua Saint Roman in Ipanema/Cantagalo and Casa Mosquito, I only had the opportunity to visit the place about a month ago, and I was amazed. It’s hard to describe the feeling of looking out across bay from that height, in such a unique and stylish atmosphere – it is perfect for celebrating our seven years of publishing news in the Cidade Maravilhosa.”

Daniane Mary, the event manager for The Rio Times, adds “The best part of Casa Mosquito is the outstanding view of Rio, in a cozy and sophisticated place where you can appreciate a nice service, drinks and a dazzling rooftop pool. All that plus it is located close to the iconic Ipanema beach.”

In regard to hosting the party for The Rio Times, Mr. Planès explains, “The goal is always the same: service excellence, experience in hospitality. Having an event like this only puts us on a level above. The goal is always to do better in providing a quality service and guarantee to provide our customers and guests a memorable experience.”

In addition to the amazing location, sponsored drinks by Rekorderlig Cider, and a complete bar and food menu available from Casa Mosquito, music will be provided by DJ Slim. Egyptian by way of England, DJ Slim has become a favorite with his funky-soul sounds and crowd-moving beats.

This year’s anniversary party will also have a raffle, with one ticket free as part of the entrance fee. Additional tickets will be sold throughout the day and evening, with prizes ranging from a stylish bag from Gilson Martins, Rekorderlig samples, a free day use at Casa Mosquito to a R$900 package of one-on-one Portuguese lessons from Leblon language school, Portugues Carioca. More prizes and details will be announced this week.
