British School, Rio de Janeiro Hosts International Day: Sponsored

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – As part of its celebration for the third edition of its International Festival, The British School, Rio de Janeiro will host a festival for students, teachers, family members, and the public at its Botofogo site on November 14th (Saturday) from 11AM to 4PM. On the day of the event the entrance fee will be R$10, while half price tickets can be pre-purchased with the PTA (Parents and Teachers Association) secretary.

At the event, the school will be celebrating people and cultures around the world, with an event that includes global culinary styles, dance performances, and games. Over 25 nationalities will be represented by the students, parents, and teachers.

Sixty-five parents have volunteered to provide delicious, specially prepared goods for the sixteen confirmed country stalls, which include places like India, China, Spain, Venezuela and many others. In addition to the country stalls there will be food trucks from some of Rio’s favorite eateries, including Gula-Gula, Belga Waffles, Panzerotti and Brasa Forte.

The British School, Rio de Janeiro, founded in 1924, has a long history of social and environmental projects to compliment its emphasis on cultural awareness, having founded in 2012 a separate The British School Charity to assist various communities throughout Rio de Janeiro with different projects.

Focused on teaching their students to respect and value the world they live in, the school also holds an annual Model United Nations conference, challenging students to seek solution for problems, such as human rights abuses, conflicts between nations, and environmental issues. Although the school is roughly eighty percent Brazilian, many of the students have strong links to the world outside Rio and Brazil.
