InVentos Returns to Fundição Progresso in Lapa November 14th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The monthly day-long cultural event, InVentos, will return Fundição Progresso in Lapa for its seventh edition on Saturday, November 14th. Shows during the day will include video mapping with Stella Maiques; a reggae show with Marcelo Natty Braga; a popular dance performance with Mário Cardona and Elaine Barreto; and a performance of African-themed poetryand music with Macedo Griot.

Throughout the day the festival will celebrate the month of Cultura e da Consciência Negra (Culture and Black Consciousness) with family-friendly cultural and educational programs including concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions, food, circus performers, poetry readings, and additional activities for children.

This edition of InVentos will feature the Mercado Fundição, a section curated by Alexandre Nascimento and Andre Luiz Costa, that highlights the connections between African and Brazilian cultures with music, lectures, movies, and food.

Additional activities will include a free Capoeira lesson for children ages four to ten at 2PM and a a screening of “A Farra do Circo,” a film by Roberto Berliner and Pedro Bronz that chronicles the history of the Circo Voador venue. Additionally there will be an exhibition space highlighting the importance of urban agriculture as well as exhibitions of photographs and art.
