Brazil: what are the most booked bus trips in 2022, according to Buser app; see top 10

A legacy that 2022 will leave for tourism is the heating up of the road sector. With the ever higher prices of airline tickets and the advancement of travel apps, the demand for bus travel has been increasing, in several categories: from the most basic seats to first class.

Buser, the road travel intermediation platform, which reached the milestone of 9 million registered customers and transports up to 20,000 passengers per day, released the balance of the most booked trips on the platform throughout 2022.

The most traveled route was Rio de Janeiro – São Paulo, followed by São Paulo – Rio de Janeiro, which costs from R$59.90 (US$11.37) for the one way-ticket. Together, the two directions moved more than 500,000 Brazilian tourists from January to December, considering reservations for the next few days. This represents a 25% growth compared to 2021.

Following are the routes between Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, also in both directions, with around 230,000 passengers on board. Another very popular trip at the startup is between Campinas and São Paulo, which had almost 200,000 reservations.

In terms of destinations, the list of the most booked cities in the year follows the logic of the routes: São Paulo, which handled more than 3 million passengers, whether embarking or disembarking, is the favorite destination, followed by Belo Horizonte and only after Rio de Janeiro.

In comparison with last year, the news is that Vitória (ES) has passed ahead of Campinas (SP), now being the fourth most popular destination on Buser. Uberlândia (MG) rose 7 positions, ahead of Cabo Frio (RJ) — the beloved “coastal city of Minas Gerais” remains on the list, but has now dropped from 7th to 9th position.
