Covid-19: Brazil Technical Issues Delay Updates of Cases and Deaths (November 6th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Ministry of Health experienced technical issues that prevented it from obtaining some updated figures. Among them, data on people recovered. As such, the last data in this respect refer to last Wednesday, November 4th, totaling 5,064,344 (90.6 percent). The Ministry was also unable to update the data for a number of states, among them São Paulo, the state most affected by the novel coronavirus in Brazil.

By means of a note, the Ministry reported that “this Friday, November 6th, it identified an issue in some webpages, which disconfigured layouts. The issue is being addressed by the DataSUS team, and the pages are being restored. Neither the portfolio’s data nor its servers were affected, which are preserved by the security measures adopted”.

The portfolio also said that “is reviewing all the security layers of the Unified Health System (SUS) information systems, which may cause intermittence in the systems and in the disclosure of health information during the weekend, expected to be completed by next Sunday, November 8th.

The balance disclosed yesterday, November 6th, by the Ministry of Health, shows 18,862 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. There are now 5,631,181 cumulative cases since the start of the pandemic. Furthermore, another 279 deaths were recorded, totaling 162,015.

Covid-19 in the states

The data from São Paulo have likewise not been updated, the last numbers referring to Thursday. Nevertheless, the state still leads by far in terms of the number of cases (1,125,936) and deaths (39,717). Among states with the highest number of cases in the country are Minas Gerais (366,303) and Bahia (361,136).

Rio de Janeiro, with 20,849 deaths, is the second state in this respect, behind São Paulo. Ceará, with 9,393, and Minas Gerais with 9,199 are third and fourth, respectively.
