AMLO reiterates his commitment to present a peace project for Russia and Ukraine

The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, offers his traditional press conference from the Treasury Hall of the National Palace, in Mexico City.

The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, commented that he would have a high-level talk with Antony Blinken, Secretary of State, to address issues of the T-MEC and the bilateral relationship between Mexico and the United States this Monday, regardless of the agenda where the Secretaries of Economy of both nations participate.

He added that if the electrical issue comes up, it will be dealt with, but he said that there is a good response from President Joe Biden, to whom he sent a letter with the purpose of maintaining the relationship of respect for sovereignties and integrating the economies.

AMLO reiterated that there is a good relationship and friendship with the Biden government.

“There are places in the U.S. where it is not necessary to speak English, we cannot fight, we have to seek good relations, he says.

Why are we, the governments, going to fight if our people are affected?”, he questioned when mentioning the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, “a lawsuit that is promoted above”.

When questioned about Julian Assange, the president commented that if there is an opportunity, conditions, and circumstances, the issue of the founder of WikiLeaks with Blinken would be discussed.

ARMY SUPPORT IN SECURITY TASKS

The Mexican president ruled in favor of at least extending the term for the Army to support security tasks beyond March 2024, the period in which his functions end.

“We have to continue to have the support of these two institutions (the Army and the Navy) and do it in a way that was not done before, legally, without violating the Constitution, because now those who tear their clothes forget that the Army was used for public security tasks, the Army was even used to declare war, without consulting Congress, without taking into account the Constitution,” he added.

“Yes, it would be good if the Army and the Navy were legally allowed to continue helping us with security tasks; they suit us all; it can’t be that because of politics, because they don’t like the president, that they don’t look favorably on the President, because we are acting with authenticity and seeking the transformation of the country and they themselves are taking off their masks because they were pretenders, and worse, some corrupt people who dedicated themselves to looting and stealing, some racists who acted in an arrogant manner, they don’t like that,” he emphasized.

López Obrador proposed that evaluations be carried out on its operation every six months and in 2027 a consultation to determine whether or not the National Guard (composed of 80% by the military) remains as a branch of the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena).

AMLO ATTACKS THE UN AND THE OAS AGAIN

López Obrador accused that “pimp” organizations such as the UN and the OAS “did not see anything” of what was happening in the past six-year terms.

“Their eyes are clouded by their conservatism, they keep quiet,” he said.

“What have they done in the UN with Assange? Isn’t he a prisoner of conscience? Isn’t he imprisoned for exercising freedom of expression? He is the prisoner of the rights to freedom of expression in the world,” he expressed.

AMLO WILL PRESENT A PEACE PROJECT FOR RUSSIA AND UKRAINE

“On September 16, I will talk about peace in the world and Mexico’s position on the Russia-Ukraine war. I will formally present it on September 16,” he said.

AMLO EXPOSES PREVIOUS GOVERNMENTS

“I am forced to say that in the Calderón government, public security was handled by criminals, just as I am forced to say that tycoons managed the Ministry of Labor and that equity was not guaranteed, he declares.

“The people voted in 2018 for a change; if those who were there return, I knock on wood, well, yes, the government is going to be different; I do want them to return, but also what they stole,” he said.

AMLO SENDS CONDOLENCES TO RELATIVES OF ACCIDENT VICTIMS IN TAMAULIPAS

The president sent condolences to the relatives of the 20 people who died during a road accident in Hidalgo, Tamaulipas, after a pipe exploded when it hit a passenger truck.
“In the municipality of Hidalgo, a passenger truck, all migrants burned because a pipe exploded, and we are also investigating that,” he said.
