Mario Abdo Benítez, Paraguay’s outgoing President, announced that the nation’s economy is expected to be the fastest-growing in the region in 2023.
According to forecasts by the Central Bank of Paraguay, the economy will expand by 4.5%.
The statement was made at a ceremony marking the inauguration of a new highway in Itacurubí de la Cordillera, located 88 kilometers east of Asunción.
In his remarks, the President also highlighted a 6.4% growth in economic activity until May of this year.
He acknowledged the significant challenges faced due to the global health crisis, reflecting on his administration as a period of considerable difficulty.
As he concludes his tenure, Benítez expressed satisfaction with his efforts and commitment during his five-year term.
On August 15, Santiago Peña, the winner of the general elections held on April 30, will succeed Benítez as Paraguay’s President.
