Among the works selected is the documentary ‘A Foley Artist’, which tells the story of Mr. Hu Ding-Yi, the most experienced Taiwanese expert in Foley art, a technique that consists of adding everyday sound effects to films, such as the sound of climbing steps or doors opening and closing. Despite his expertise, Ding-Yi faced a professional crisis, as his work began to be replaced by digital sound resources and became obsolete. In all, he devoted 40 years to this task, working in 70 film productions.

In addition to the film directed by Wan-Jo Wang, the film ‘Dust in the Wind’, by Hou Hsiao-Hsien, is also part of the program. The film is part of the director’s trilogy and explores the maturing process of the boy Ah-yuan, who joins the Army and eventually loses his childhood sweetheart.

On October 12th, the audience will be able to see an exhibition followed by a debate. On that date, there will be a Crystal Boys session, a work denouncing homophobia in Taiwan in the 1970s. The work’s dimension gained momentum this year when Taiwan became the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage.

The exhibition held in the federal capital is organized by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brazil. Admission to the event is free.
