Turnout in Brazil’s 2022 elections reaches 20.95%, surpassing that of 2018

After 99.99% of the votes were counted, the abstention rate in the first round of the 2022 elections was 20.95%, higher than the 20.3% four years ago.

According to TSE data, 32,765,540 voters did not go to the polls on Sunday (Oct. 2) by 3 a.m. on Oct. 3.

For the second round, there are signs of an increase in abstention.

In 15 of the 27 states, the fight was decided in the first round, so voters in those states and the Federal District may feel less motivated to leave their homes on Oct . . .
