Brazil created 2 million formal jobs in 2022

Brazil ended the year 2022 with a positive balance of 2,037,982 formal jobs.

The data are from the General Cadastre for Employed and Unemployed (Caged) and were released on Tuesday, 31, by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

According to Caged, from January to December 2022, there were 22,648,395 admissions against 20,610,413 dismissals.

The main sector responsible for the positive result was the Services sector, which ended the last 12 months with a positive balance of 1,176,502 formal jobs.

In the sequence, Commerce came in second, with 350,110; Industry, with 251,868; Construction, with 194,444; and Agriculture and cattle-raising, with 65,000 jobs created.

Among the regions, the Southeast was responsible for 978,666 vacancies, followed by the Northeast, with 385,094 formal jobs, and the South, with 309,277.

The Midwest represents a positive balance of 231,781 vacancies, and the North, 119,141.

The final balance for 2022 is 26.6% lower than the one registered in 2021 when 2,776,733 formal jobs were created.

In 2020, the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic, the country closed with a negative jump of 192,517 formal jobs.
