Brasilia Soccer Federation closes deal with vaccine passport app developer

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Brasilia Soccer Federation this week joined Chronus i-Passport, an app developed by the French-Brazilian company Mooh!Tech, for access control and anti-covid-19 security in stadiums.

The app was developed for presenting the Covid-19 vaccination certificates and negative tests and its model is similar to the one used to control fan access to the main sports venues in the United States, such as the NFL (American football), MLS (soccer), and MLB (baseball).

This same system has been tested in countries such as France, Portugal, Israel, Estonia, and Vietnam.

“We believe that despite an improvement, especially with vaccination, the pandemic is going to last for a long time. That’s why Mooh!Tech and the Brasilia Federation have jointly implemented the only protocol in the world that actually allows a safe and responsible return to the stadiums, without the risk of fraud, both by presenting the vaccines and the tests, considering the social welfare and ways to mitigate the impact of Covid, not only in soccer, but throughout the production chain and the psychological impact on citizens,” explains Mooh!Tech’s CEO Everton Cruz.

The tool associates the concept of passport with national and international vaccination and prophylactic certificates and works like a digital free pass, allowing any fan who is immunized or tested negative to be able to attend the match, at no risk of spreading Covid-19.

“This is an efficient partnership that aims to provide security to our fans, through an app recognized worldwide, easy to access and extremely reliable. We will initially conduct a test in the B Series (second division) matches, and soon, with the gradual return of the public, start using it in other competitions,” says the president of the Soccer Federation of Brasilia Daniel Vasconcelos.

The company had previously closed similar partnerships with the soccer federations of Pernambuco and Ceará, where fans will need to have their i-Passport validated with a 48-hour RT/PCR test or vaccination, according to the local authority’s protocol drawn up jointly with the state and national federations, for the public to return to stadiums.

The i-Passport will not only apply to fans, but also to staff, players, technical commission, authorities, essential services, and the press. Certificates will be read by QRcode on turnstiles or read manually. To purchase it, the app must be downloaded and registered.

“The passport is a health identification registration solution. Continued use allows for control of the population’s health status and a decrease in the protocols currently required for the return. It will be a mandatory credential for anyone involved with soccer, meeting the essential demands of this moment,” says the president of the Pernambuco Federation Evandro Carvalho.

Everton Cruz says it is crucial for state and municipal governments, and private companies, to use this platform to manage their citizens and employees’ health in an equal and safe way. “Only in this way will they have faster access to safely open their economic activities, to return to a normal life, but safely.”
