“Yellow Line” toll road in Rio de Janeiro no longer requires cash payments
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Forgot to draw cash to pay the toll? You no longer need to have cash in hand to pay the toll.
The Yellow Line, one of the main expressways in Rio, will now accept toll payments with debit and credit cards, cell phones, wristbands, watches, or any device that has NFC technology that allows proximity payments.

The payments will be processed through a digital system from Cielo, where the customer simply pulls up his card or cell phone without having to type anything, neither the amount of the toll nor the password.
It will be a kind of hybrid system between the no-stop system and the cash payment required by the concessionaires.
The Linha Amarela is currently a concession of the Invepar Group and the new payment system also has a partnership with Visa, which will be the only accepted card brand. The new system will go live next Sunday, June 27.
