Summer 2023: what are the new requirements to enter Uruguay and Brazil

With the increase in cases of COVID-19 in some Latin American countries, governments decided to tighten sanitary controls at the borders.

Such is the case of Brazil, which imposed as a first measure the mandatory use of chinstraps both inside planes and at airports.

“Current epidemiological data indicate an increase in the number of covid-19 cases in the Brazilian population,” mentions the National Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) in an official statement.

THOSE TOURISTS WHO WISH TO ENTER BRAZIL MUST HAVE:

– Complete vaccination certificate or with an antigen or PCR test carried out up to 24 hours prior to the start of the trip. The last vaccination must have been received at least 14 days before the start of the trip. All vaccinations are valid. Children under 12 years of age are exempt from presenting proof of vaccination or evidence.

URUGUAY

Although this country has not imposed new conditions in recent days, since August it has some particular requirements for tourists who want to visit it and they are:

– Vaccination: having received the single dose or both doses against the SARS-CoV-2 virus (as appropriate to the type of vaccine supplied) approved by their country of origin. They must prove vaccination by means of a certificate issued by the health authority of their country of origin. Those who are not vaccinated must show a negative result of an antigen or PCR test carried out up to 72 hours before the start of the trip.

– Health coverage: If you are a foreigner, you must have health coverage/medical insurance in Uruguay.
