RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL- Rock in Rio announced that it would re-open ticket sales today (August 11th) beginning at 10AM for a limited amount of tickets. Those wishing to take advantage of the sale can purchase up to four tickets per day with their credit card for the festival taking place on September 18th, 19th, 20th, 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th at Barra da Tijuca’s City of Rock.
According to Rock in Rio, the festival is able to sell a limited amount of tickets again because a number of people didn’t complete the payment on their initial purchase. As a result, their reservation was cancelled. Tickets can be purchased here.
Rock in Rio will be celebrating thirty years of history with this festival, which has traveled all around the world and been attended by nearly 7.5 million people in total. In 2014, the festival occurred in Lisbon. In May of 2015, the festival traveled to the United States for the first time and took place in Las Vegas, where it was attended by around 170,000 people.
This year’s Rock in Rio, returning to its city of origin, will be held in what will become the Athletes’ Park at the 2016 Olympics, the City of Rock in Barra da Tijuca in an area that is over 150,000 square meters. The line-up will include artists such as Rihanna, Metallica, Elton John, Rod Stewart, and John Legend, Katy Perry, System of the Down, Queen with Adam Lambert, as well as Brazilian artists, including Gabriel Moura, Rodrigo Sha, and Maurício Baia.
The age rating of the festival is fifteen years old, so minors must be accompanied by an adult. Moreover, each Rock in Rio ticket is individual sold and valid for a single day of the concert.
For those who missed the ticket sales today, it is always an option to go through re-selling sites, such as Comprei e não vou (I bought, and I am not going). However, one has to verify with the seller that the tickets sold are original ones. Also, re-selling tickets above their original price is illegal in Brazil.
