The public company Petroecuador reported that it obtained environmental licenses for various activities in the Auca field – Block 61 and in the Pacoa field – Block 1, “focused on the objective of increasing production, proposed by the National Government to strengthen State income ”.

In a statement, the company said that the licenses were granted by the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition (MAATE) and were approved “in compliance with the established regulations, which also contemplates the process of citizen participation.”

For the Auca field, located in the Amazonian province of Orellana, the construction of 26 new platforms, nine stations and one substation, the expansion of 39 platforms, stations and substations and the drilling of 420 development wells, among others, are authorized.

In the Pacoa field, in the province of Santa Elena, authorization was given to build six new platforms and the Mata Chiviato access road for the drilling of 10 new wells with surface and production facilities.

According to Petroecuador, “by obtaining these licenses, the economy of the area will be reactivated thanks to the activities that these projects entail, directly benefiting the areas of influence of the operation in the provinces of Orellana and Santa Elena, their canton capitals and parishes.”

Petroecuador carried out the environmental licensing process (including citizen participation), in accordance with the provisions of current environmental regulations and with the due review and favorable pronouncement of the Undersecretary of Environmental Quality.
