New vehicle sales in Brazil grew by 4.88 percent in 2022 compared to 2021, the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave) reported today, Thursday.

In making an annual balance, Fenabrave, the entity that groups new car dealerships, reported that 3,667,367 units were purchased last year, compared to 3,496,838 in 2021.

The entity said in a statement that in December, the commercialization of vehicles registered a rise of 8.69 percent compared to the same month in 2021.

Automobile sales last year grew 1.22 percent over 2021, with the registration of just over 1.5 million units.

The sector that fell the most in the year-on-year comparison was light commercials, whose sales had an 8.58 percent decline, followed by the 2.12 percent drop in the truck segment.

“In 2022, we had a result similar to that of the last three years, maintaining practically the same sales volume,” said Fenabrave’s president, José Andreta Júnior, at a press conference.
