Monday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – By far the biggest party in Rio tonight is the famous New Year’s Eve celebration on Copacabana Beach, with some 2.3 million party-goers expected for the free event. Fireworks go off at midnight, but before and after an amazing line-up of bands and DJs will keep the party jumping.

Brazilian musical acts like Diogo Noguiera, Claudia Leitte will be opposite the Copacabana Palace. Further down the beach opposite Rua Santa Clara, the ‘Palco Claro’ will host the likes of Mariene de Castro, Olo Dance and Baby do Brasil. More about the line up here.

The new American-owned beachfront restaurant and bar on Copacabana Beach is a great place for food and just drinks to kick off the night. It is reservation only for New Year’s Eve so call ahead.

Lapa Irish Pub (Lapa)
If you are up for some Irish beer and a nice environment to drink it in away from the crowded beach events, this is the place to go. With its themed decor, this pub attracts many different kinds of people and offers Guinness and the German brand of Erdinger.
