JetSMART starts scheduled flights between Foz do Iguaçu and Santiago de Chile

Foz do Iguaçu joined the JetSMART network of permanent routes with the debut of the flight to Santiago, Chile, on Tuesday (Dec. 6).

With this, the connection between the city of Paraná and the Chilean capital is no longer seasonal and will be held twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, for an indefinite period.

The low-cost company will use an Airbus A320 aircraft on the route, with a capacity for 186 passengers, the same one that flies to other Brazilian destinations, such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Florianópolis.

“Today, Foz Airport has a 75% recovery in passenger movement compared to the same period of 2019; this is largely due to the slower resumption of international tourism.”

“The new direct and regular route to Santiago will accelerate the recovery and propitiate Foz do Iguaçu to be a gateway for Chileans in Brazil,” said the air business manager of CCR Airports, Graziella Delicato.

The Foz do Iguaçu airport will also have, still in December, direct flights to Montevideo, Uruguay.

Azul will operate the route twice a week with Embraer E-195 airplanes.
