In China, photos of demonstrations on social networks are covered with pornographic spam

Pornographic content is often posted on web pages to prevent access to publications about the demonstrations against China’s Covid Zero policy.

Twitter is one of the platforms where this form of censorship takes place.

When a user in China searches for protests in the largest cities of the Asian giant, such as Beijing and Shanghai, this type of spam appears instead of publications.

The complaint was made by the FRANCE 24 outlet.

According to observers, there is a strategy in the country to insert this content from fake accounts created less than a month ago to pollute social networks and avoid access to recent information about the demonstrations.

In China, pornographic content is usually banned, but the intention of the regime or other authorities to prevent access to content related to the protests is a priority in the country, as analyzed by the newspaper.
