Ibovespa closed at 161,869.76 after trading 160,214.70–162,165.72 on turnover of R$24.90 billion ($4.6 billion).
\n\\n \\t
Early Jan. 6 pricing pointed higher: Ibovespa futures around 164,379; the mini-index near 162,700–162,705 after a 165,040 high.
\n\\n \\t
The dollar stayed soft (DXY ~98.24); USD/BRL held near 5.4099 as oil failed to spike.
\n\\n
\n\\nBrazil’s Ibovespa is trying to extend a rebound after Monday’s risk-on session, when the index rose 0.83% to 161,869.76 points.\n\\n\n\\nTraders treated the Venezuela shock as headline risk, not a macro break. Mizuho strategist Yusuke Matsuo said Venezuela was “small” in direct global-macro terms and that any oil rebuild would take years.\n\\n\n\\nOverseas, equities were stronger: Dow +1.2% (48,977.18), S&P 500 +0.62% (6,944.82), Nasdaq +0.65% (23,547.17), Stoxx 600 +0.94% (601.76), Nikkei +1.3% (52,518.08), Hang Seng +1.3% (26,710).\n\\n\n\\nIbovespa Rebounds Near 162,000 With Housing Plays Leading The Charge. \n\\n\n\\nIn Brazil, leadership skewed toward rate-sensitive and commodity-linked names. Builders led. MRV rose 6.09%, Cyrela 5.47%, Direcional 5.14% and Cury 4.44%. Investors pointed to housing-credit support tied to Minha Casa Minha Vida.\n\\n\n\\nEmbraer climbed 4.85% on a broader “Brazil beta” bid. Vale benefited from firmer iron ore after Dalian’s most-liquid May contract settled at 797 yuan a tonne, up 0.95%. Petrobras lagged as traders weighed regional supply risks and crude volatility.\n\\n\n\\nThe selloff was concentrated. C&A fell 15.71% on profit-taking. Brava dropped 5.76%. Lojas Renner, Klabin and Vivara each slid about 3%.\n\\n\n\\nFlows stayed supportive. The iShares MSCI Brazil ETF (EWZ) closed at 32.79 on about 31.1 million shares traded, with net inflows of $94.44 million over five days, $411.82 million over one month and $2.14 billion over one year.\n\\n\n\\nNext up is inflation. The central bank’s Focus survey nudged the 2026 IPCA forecast to 4.06% and kept the median year-end Selic call at 12.25%, with December IPCA due Friday, Jan. 9; the Selic is 15% now.\n\\n\n\\nTechnically, the 4-hour chart shows RSI in the low 60s and rising into resistance around 162,000–162,600.\n\\n\n\\nOn the daily chart, RSI is near 60 and MACD sits below its signal line, favoring consolidation: bulls want 160,000 to hold, or the index risks slipping toward the mid-to-upper 150,000s. A clean break above 162,600 would reopen late-December highs quickly.\n
