RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Wednesday marked the start of the two week Gourmet Burger Festival happening at Coccinelle Bistrô. The festival, which, alongside the bistros’ French-inspired daily fare, is a celebration of gourmet burgers, including the best ingredients and creative recipes.
Interest among Centro’s lunchtime crowd is growing, leading more professionals to stop by for a break from normal daily specials that dominate the area. Gourmet burgers seem to fit the bill perfectly; quick, tasty, and different from humdrum specials in Centro’s luncheonettes.
Owner Yves de Roquemaurel started thinking about the gourmet burgers as a great option for party-goers at the upcoming Paralelepipedo #2 party that will be take place in the restaurant tomorrow night, Saturday, August 4th.
The first edition, which included well-known local acts like Maga Bo and Digitaldubs, was a huge success except for one small detail, post-drinking food is difficult to find in Centro late at night.
The idea for a full-fledged festival, celebrating the potential of the burger, grew from there, with Roquemaurel tweaking the recipe for a specialty menu item alongside the French-Japanese classics that are attracting a strong following in Centro.
“The gourmet burger fest is actually in line with our idea of serving tasty homemade dishes with organic ingredients,” he said.
“We always liked a good hamburger, but to include it on a menu at Coccinelle it had to be special. We worked to perfect recipes for homemade brioche bun, homemade mayonnaise and Dijon mustard, homemade tomato concassé. Our indgridients and recipes make our burgers unique, and our clients, new and returning, appreciate the difference” said Roquemaurel.
The gourmet burger fest at Coccinelle continues through August 15th, with a special selection available at tomorrow night’s party at Arco do Teles.
