Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – European based DJ and producer Martin Dawson joins an all star cast of local Rio DJ talent at Fosfobox for the party Tasty. Tropical Beats team up with Bootleg to bring you a night of hard hitting beats at the best underground club in Rio.

Marcelo Nova & Arnaldo Brandao (Lapa)
Get ready for a double dose of rock ‘n roll as two masters of rock take the stage at Circo Voador. Marcelo Novo led one of the most controversial bands of the ’80s, Camisa de Vênus. Novo reigned king as he collaborated with Raul Seixas and had a successful run as a solo artist. He will be joined by Arnaldo Brandao, considered one of the best bassists of Brazil. Brandao has flourished with a successful career from his band Hanoi Hanoi and collaborations with Cazuza, not to mention his own solo endeavor. Tonights show will be based on his acclaimed CD “Amnésia Programada”.

Festival Faro MPB (Lapa)
After two successful editions highlighting the new names of Brazilian muisc, the Festival MPB Faro launches again. The 2012 edition, the promises to promote the union of generations that has transformed the scene in recent years. To anchor this mix of rhythm and time will be host Arnaldo Antunes. With a 30 year musical career, Antunes maintains a close dialogue with the new names of the MPB.

Beats 4 Freaks(Lapa)
After the closing of the epic club Dama de Ferro, Beats 4 Freaks has finally relocated to the next best thing in underground clubs, Catrin in Lapa. Consisting of resident tech house DJs Autran and Rogerio Pessoa, this weeks guests include Ricardo Estrela and Jamessen from Low Beats. Dark dirty underground is the theme of the night at this poppin location in the heart of Lapa.

Tasty (Copacabana)
Local heavy hitters Tropical Beats and Bootleg Festa join forces to bring you some delectable treats in the form of funky beats. Tasty will highlight some of Rio’s top talent as they welcome UK born, Berlin based producer and DJ Martin Dawson. His 20 something career has produced hits on labels like Crosstown Rebels and Kompakt. Joining him for the night is local sensation Kriptus Gomes, Bed & Breakfast (Marcio Careca & Joao Paulo) and Flow and Zeo.

Nuth (Barra da Tijuca)
The biggest thing to hit the streets of Barra & Lagoa. Two locations with the same game plan to make sure the night never ends for those who attend. A mixture of house, hip hop, and pop, this nightclub is sure to light up the night.
