Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Me Gusta returns for another techno fueled night at Fosfobox in Copacabana. Tonight will feature two Brazilian heavyweights as they throwdown and make Rio’s premiere underground venue rumble with their tough industrial beats.
Techno arose in the late Eighties from the bleak gray, industrial city of Detroit, inspired by the sounds of machines from the auto giant. Held together today by some of the worlds top DJs, techno is making a resurgence here in Rio, with Me Gusta at the helm, claiming to have techno in the party’s DNA.
DJ Wehbba has produced tracks for Tronic, Soma, 100% Pure, Trapez an a handful of other respectable labels, not to mentioned working with such musicians as Jon Dixon and D’Sean Jones.
DJ Anna, who hails from Sao Paulo also holds a strong resume, having released tracks on various labels and partnerships with Mark Night and Christian Smith.

There is not much more that needs to be said about this popular party, featuring the very original carioca funk. Expect to hear from MCs Marcinho, Sabrina, Magalhães, Amaro, Bom Rum and Calazans, plus much more.

Monobloco- Lançamento do Novo CD (Lapa)
Monobloco has become extremely popular among Brazilians because of their ‘fresh’ sound, playing a mix of various rhythms such as coco, ciranda, marcha, xote, samba-charme, and particularly samba-rock and funk, as well as carnaval sambas. Tonight the band celebrates the release of their new CD.
