Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Muziq is best served in a dark room with a few subwoofers and a dancing crowd. Expect to have some great expectations met with a local legend and a few of Rio’s finest as they hold down tech house in a funky way at Catrin in Lapa.

The queen of tecnobrega, Gaby Amarantos, was born and raised on the outskirts of Bethlehem. Gabriela Amaral dos Santos was born into music and began singing at age 15, influenced by artists such as Clara Nunes, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday and the tacky Dalva Francis and Reginald Rossi.

Friday night should be a hot one in Lapa with some of Rio’s top tech house DJs throwing down at the new late night underground club and restaurant Catrin. The DJs for the night include famed icon Mauricio Lopes, Nytron, Pedro Piu and Daniel Secco.

Keep Up (Copacabana)
Keep Up is a new venture that will host an array of top DJs from Rio. Joca Vidal, Pedro Isidoro, Câmara, Highclass Underground (Noo), Carrot Green (Molotov21), Diogo Reis (Moo) and Bernardo Campos vs Felipe Fella (Base). All will represent during this special night at Fosfobox.

Nuth (Barra da Tijuca)
The biggest thing to hit the streets of Barra & Lagoa. Two locations with the same game plan to make sure the night never ends for those who attend. A mixture of house, hip hop, and pop, this nightclub is sure to light up the night.

Moyseis Marques (Lapa)
Singer and songwriter Moyseis Marques returns to Carioca da Gema to perform his special brand of samba with hits like “Pretinha Jóia Rara”, which was featured on the soap opera “Caminho das Índias”, from Rede Globo.

Marcos Ozzellin (Lapa)
Marcos Ozzellin is revelation of Rio’s Lapa scene. He recently released his first CD, O Samba Transcendental. The repertoire features well known samba tunes in elegant arrangements.
