El Salvador’s Bukele says U.S. losing credibility on Ukraine crisis

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, said Sunday on his Twitter account that the administration of Joe Biden is losing “all its remaining credibility” on the Ukraine crisis.

“Are these (Russian) ‘commanders’ getting 4 attack orders a week? The Biden administration is losing what little credibility it has left. And now a new alleged order that didn’t happen,” the Salvadoran president wrote in English, adding that this was a “strange strategy.”

Bukele’s message echoed a CNN release that said “the United States has ‘information’ indicating that Russian commanders have received orders to carry out an attack on Ukraine, according to three sources.”

The U.S. asserted this Sunday that Russia has set in motion its “manual” for an invasion of Ukraine and warned that such aggression could be imminent, as the Kremlin has already issued the order to attack, according to U.S. intelligence agencies.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has argued that Moscow’s decision to extend its military presence in Belarus longer than originally announced is a springboard for an attack on Ukraine, which Russia denies.

Nayib Bukele’s government has a strained relationship with the United States and has clashed with officials from Joe Biden’s administration on Twitter.

Bukele has also accused the United States of allegedly “allying” with the Salvadoran opposition.

Last November, then-U.S. State Representative in El Salvador Jean Manes said Bukele’s government showed “no interest in improving relations.”
