Current measures for entering and leaving Chile

After two and a half years of strict sanitary measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tourism industry is preparing for a promising summer season in which more visitors are expected to arrive in Chile.

A scenario for the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, where the reactivation for hotels, gastronomy, and airlines is essential to recover the income registered before the arrival of the coronavirus.

It is a long-awaited moment for these guilds, which are celebrating the end of border restrictions and are expecting a greater number of domestic and foreign clients, with Easter Island, San Pedro de Atacama, and Patagonia as the iconic Chilean destinations to be highlighted.

According to the Federation of Tourism Companies of Chile (Fedetur), in a typical December before the pandemic, 450,000 foreign tourists could be received, while for 2022, 323,000 are projected, so the aim is to recover.

Given the current sanitary conditions where there are no travel restrictions to the country, ChileAtiende specifies the existing measures for entering and leaving the national territory.

• There will be no travel restrictions.
• A vaccination certificate or negative PCR will be required no more than 48 hours before travel (for non-resident travelers).
• Only Chilean nationals returning from abroad will be randomly tested.
• Upon entering the country, random testing will be maintained only for residents, reducing from 10% to 5% for travelers.

Salud Responde informs that the International Health Passport (form C19) will no longer be necessary for travelers.

If a person tests positive for coronavirus when entering the national territory, they will have to spend seven days in isolation in a health residence or a place determined by the authorities.

The International Vaccination Certificate can be requested online for those who travel abroad. However, it is important to consider that it is a procedure that must be carried out in time since it takes 48 hours to be delivered.

It is necessary to enter the Me Vacuno website and log in with the “Clave Única” (Single Key) or Chilean Identity Card.

Once inside the page, it is necessary to go to the “Downloads” section located at the end of the details of the doses.

Once clicked, there will be two options where it is necessary to choose “Certificado Internacional firma electrónica avanzada” (International certificate advanced electronic signature). Once 48 hours have elapsed, it can be downloaded.
