The Colombian government plans to finance the construction of the second frigate of the Surface Strategic Platform (PES) program and a second logistics support ship (BAL 6012) over the next four years, coinciding with the presidential term of the current president, Gustavo Petro.

The Colombian intentions derive from the efforts of the National Navy (ARC) aimed at the development of the PES project, which contemplates the construction of five frigates until 2032, as well as having two BAL 6012 type vessels, with which it would simultaneously cover the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.

NAVAL PLAN

In this way, the Petro administration would ensure the continuity of the Naval Development Plan 2042 (with two new frigates by 2026), with which the ARC seeks to project naval power that allows it to have the capacity to protect the interests and resources of the spaces. national seafarers, thanks to a strong technological component, created with the notable participation of the Colombian naval industry (Cotecmar).

These purposes occur within the framework of the implementation of the Comprehensive National Defense System (Siden), which has led to the start of the PES project, a new ocean patrol vessel (POC) and future announcements regarding other non-naval programs, but of considerable strategic importance for the country.
