RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Having played a number of hugely popular gigs in Lapa over the last six months, a group of DJ’s who operate under the party name ‘Clubbing’ have created a new and improved event known as ‘Clubbing Deluxe’. The first event of its kind is to be held at the rather more contemporary venue of MAM (Museum of Modern Art) in Flamengo on January 25th.
Resident DJ’s include Mike Frugaletti, who locals may recognize as part of the BSC (Botafogo Social Club DJ’s), and his wife Vivi Seixas, daughter of the late Raul Seixas – One of Brazil’s greatest music icons.
The decision to move the party from regular monthly venue Leviano in Lapa to the MAM was made in response to the rapidly growing popularity surrounding ‘Clubbing’. This prompted the team to incorporate bigger names and visual displays in to the mix.
Frugaletti explains, “We decided to move it to the MAM and bring bigger headliners, sound, art and decor. Its pretty much bigger and badder than before.” He goes on to add, “MAM is such an incredible venue and leaves us so much space to expand, there was no way we could pass up the opportunity.”
Known for their edgy electronic and bumping house music the DJ’s will certainly not disappoint having added to their number with a variety of Brazilian, local and international names. Frugaletti reveals, “There is lots of top notch local talent as well as three international guests. Brazilian DJs consist of resident Vivi Seixas, Nepal, Lennox and Andre Araujo.
“I’m from San Francisco, and our guest Brett Johnson is from Texas. He is a very well known producer who has produced many hits over the years. Our other guest is DJ/ Producer Eddie Leader from the UK.” Frugaletti tells The Rio Times.
For Brett Johnson, the party at the MAM is another chance to play in the Cidade Maravilhosa, adding, “I’ve played in Rio a few times now, each experience has been great. The people are full of energy, a DJs dream come true.”
With top notch tunes featuring a range of funky house, tech house, jackin house, disco house and more, what better venue could there be than the cool, spacious outdoor terrace of the MAM – one of Rio’s biggest cultural attractions.
Eddie Leader, coming from the UK explained: “This is the first time I’ve played in South America. I’ve been doing a Hudd Traxx Tour in cities through Argentina and Brazil over January and this is the last stop before I go home to Manchester. I think the most exciting thing about this party is the venue if looks amazing!”
Speaking with obvious enthusiasm at the opportunity to play in such a location, Frugaletti adds, “Its a beautiful space with a great view and lots of opportunity for our decor and performers and exposition.”
Tickets for the event can be bought from various ticket offices situated in Rio Sul shopping, Shopping Leblon and Barra shopping plus other kiosks. Prices start at R$50 for promotional tickets, R$60 for early purchases and R$70 for late purchases. The event will start at 10PM and continue until 7AM on the following day.
