Children of Bodom Perform in Rio de Janeiro on May 29th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Known for their growling vocals and melodic progressions, Finnish death metal band Children of Bodom will perform live at Lapa’s Circo Voador on Sunday, May 29th. The group will stop in the city as part of an ongoing tour in support of their ninth album entitled, I Worship Chaos.

“To me, it seems like I Worship Chaos has a lot darker vibe in it than the previous albums and so far everyone has told me that the songs are a lot catchier this time, which I’m definitely glad about,” vocalist and guitarist Alexi Laiho said before the album’s release last year.

Children of Bodom was formed by Laiho along with drummer Jaska Raatikainen in 1993 in Espoo, Finland. Originally calling the group Inearthed, they changed the name in 1997 when they signed with Spinefarm Records.

The name Children of Bodom refers to the 1960 Lake Bodom murder incident, which involved the murder of three teenagers who had been camping on the shores of the lake located near Espoo and 22km west of Helsinki.

After changing their name, Children of Bodom released their debut album Something Wild. During the almost twenty years that followed, they released eight additional albums, two live albums, a DVD, EPs and compilation albums with the combined sales earning them a place among the best-selling artists of all time in Finland.

While Laiho and Raatikainen have remained members since the creation of the group, the additional lineup has seen many changes. Laiho and Raatikainen are currently joined by bassist Henkka Blacksmith, guitarist Daniel Freyberg and keyboardist Janne Wirman.

Circo Voador gates will open at 7PM and the band Reckoning Hour will perform to open the night.
