Brazil’s Tupan Aircraft exhibits its logistics drones at IDEX 2023

Brazilian firm Tupan Aircraft is present at IDEX 2023, the defense and security fair in Abu Dhabi from February 20 to 24, exhibiting its logistics drones of the Tupan family.

These aircraft can perform vertical takeoffs and landings using tilting turbofan engines that produce enough power to transport special loads over long distances autonomously and at high speed.

The Brazilian company has baptized this concept as High Speed, Vertical/Short Take-off, and Landing.

Conceived as a scalable project (different sizes and purposes), the Tupan family of drones from the Tupan 1000 (140 kg payload) to the Tupan 3000, configured to carry 600 kg at 850 km/h (cruising speed) up to a distance of 1,200 km (it can reach 2,000 km if it takes off from runway).

The firm will employ four turbofan engines under development to power the cargo drones, with a further four battery-powered electric propulsion systems designed to assist low-speed control during takeoff and landing and recharged during cruise flight.

Cargo drones can perform everything from package delivery to agriculture to transport to and from oil rigs.

Search and rescue missions, firefighting, military evacuation from a battlefield, and support for special forces troops will be possible thanks to the highly autonomous technology on board.

For critical industrial operations requiring special logistics and disruptive solutions, the Tupan family has proven to be the most suitable answer to missions demanding speed, autonomy, and vertical take-off, so far the only one in the world with these features.

As it begins production of the RC300 version, with 100 units per year, for an undisclosed foreign customer, Tupan Aircraft’s discussions continue with several customers and investors identified with the proposition in the UAE and the region, targeting the important cargo and defense market for its innovative air vehicle technology.
