Brazilian corn exports reached 6.78 million tons in September, more than double the volume of 2.85 million tons in the same month last year, when the second harvest was affected by weather conditions, Brazilian government data showed today (3).

However, according to the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), September grain shipments were below the record 7.55 million tons in August.

The country has had a historic second corn harvest this year.

The country set another record in September in the beef market by staying at 203 thousand tons of exported fresh meat.

A year earlier, exports of the protein amounted to 186.9 thousand tons.

China and the United States have boosted demand for Brazilian beef, favoring the sector’s shipments.

Also, according to Secex, foreign sales of sugar again exceeded the 3 million tons mark, with 3.08 million tons.

In August, exports of the sweetener totaled 3.04 million tons.

Sugar shipments were also above the 2.54 million of September 2021, when mills are expanding production at the expense of ethanol, whose prices are falling in the wake of gasoline.
