Brazilian trade balance has surplus of US$7.395 billion in July
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Brazilian trade balance recorded a surplus of US$7.395 billion in July, an increase of 1.7% over the same period last year, by daily average, according to figures released on Monday (2) by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) of the Ministry of Economy.
In the first seven months of the year, the cumulative balance is positive at US$44.126 billion, an increase of 48.6% over the same period in 2020.
Exports totaled US$25.528 billion last month. Based on the daily average, there was an increase of 37.5% over the performance of the same month in 2020. Imports reached US$18.133 billion and had an increase of 60.5% over July last year.

In 2021, exports totaled US$161.416 billion, an increase of 35.3% over the same period in 2020. Imports, on the other hand, total US$117.289 billion this year, a 30.9% increase by the same comparison.
In July, the agriculture and cattle-raising sector’s exports grew 11.21%, by the daily average, in relation to the same month of the previous year. In the extractive industry, there was an increase of 62.73% and a rise of 37.65% in the transformation industry.
As for imports, there was a 48.18% advance in the farming and livestock sector, a 163.17% rise in the extractive industry, and a 56.97% increase in manufacturing industry purchases.
In the seventh month of the year, Brazilian exports to China, Hong Kong, and Macau, the main destinations for Brazilian products, rose 19.63%, by the daily average, in relation to the same month a year earlier. Total sales to Asia advanced 28.90%.
On the same basis of comparison, sales to North America rose 70.24%, to South America, 54.87%, and Europe, 31.76%.
In the first seven months of the year, sales to China advanced 33.18%, and to all Asia, 35.05%. Exports to North America rose 37.38% in the period, to South America, 49.60%, and Europe, 28.15%.
In its most recent projection, the Secretariat estimates that the trade balance will register in 2021 a surplus of US$ 105.3 billion, the result of US$ 307.5 billion in exports and US$202.2 billion in imports. The trade flow would be US$509.7 billion.
