Better cardiac health

A 2017 review stated that together, ethanol and polyphenols in wine can help protect against chronic cardiovascular diseases, particularly heart disease.

Stronger bones

Researchers have found that excessive consumption is linked to osteoporosis; however, studies claim that moderate consumption can strengthen bones in menopausal women.

Improved brain functions

Brain function may decrease with age, but moderate alcohol intake may be associated with a slower decline.

Worse quality sleep

Many people may feel that a glass of wine helps them sleep more easily. However, the consumption of alcohol before bed is associated with slow-wave sleep patterns, known as delta activity. During this period, alpha activity, which is another type of brain pattern, is also activated. The alpha and delta activities in the brain together may inhibit restorative sleep.
