Brazil: industry closes 2022 with a drop in 8 of 15 locations surveyed
Of the 15 locations surveyed by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), industrial production fell in 8 in 2022.
The largest drops were recorded in Pará (-9.1%) and Espírito Santo (-8.4%).
The Northeast region, also considered in the survey, fell by 1%.
The results are from the Monthly Industrial Survey on Friday (Feb.10, 2023).

Industrial production grew in 10 locations from November to December, with the highest increases in Mato Grosso (5.8%) and Amazonas (5.6%).
In comparison with December 2021, a drop was recorded in 11 places.
Espírito Santo (-21.9%), Pará (-10.3%), Goiás (-10.2%), and Paraná (-10.0%) were the states that registered the most significant drops.

According to the IBGE, the industrial sector shrank 1.3% in December last year compared to the same period in 2021.
The institute points out that the last month of 2022 had one working day less than December of the previous year.
