The voter registry is only closed 150 days before the next elections for logistical preparation of the voting, as foreseen in Article 91 of the Election Law (Law 9.504/1997).

During this period, no changes can be made to voter registration cards.

The measure is necessary for the Electoral Justice to consolidate the data of the electorate eligible to vote and to take the steps required for the election to take place, such as organizing the polling places and printing the voter registers with the data of the voters in each section.
