Argentina’s Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, has been chosen as the presidential candidate for the ruling party in the upcoming general elections, according to the political front Unión por la Patria.

Unión por la Patria, which represents the current governing space in Argentina known as Frente de Todos, announced the formation of a unity list through social media.

Sergio Massa will be the presidential candidate, and he will be joined by Agustín Rossi, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, as the candidate for vice president.

The general elections in October will determine the president and vice-president for the 2023-2027 term and elect 43 members of the Parliament of the Southern Common Market (Parlasur), 24 national senators, and 130 national deputies.

President Alberto Fernández and Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner have previously stated that they will not seek reelection, following their terms served between 2007 and 2015.
