Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight the Festival Multiplicidade presents HOL, an audiovisual project by conceptual artist Henrique Roscoe, live at Oi Futuro Flamengo.
This will be the first time in four years that Roscoe returns to the Festival Multiplicidade, currently in its tenth season.
Tonight, during a performance entitled, “synap.sys”, lasers will be synchronized with sounds to symbolize neurons and synapses in the brain. The performance deals with the concepts of memory and thought.
Well known for creating new tools, both software and hardware, for his projects, for “synap.sys,” Roscoe constructed a hybrid instrument with strings which sound and communicate with the computer to produce new sounds and images, creating a true audiovisual experience.
Similar to activity in the brain, the lights will connect and move around like one neuron flowing to another neuron across a synapse.

The Festival Multiplicidade continues its tenth season tonight with a special presentation of a performance entitled, “synap.sys” from the audiovisual project, HOL, by conceptual artist Henrique Roscoe. Tonight’s performance is entitled, “synap.sys” and should last approximately thirty minutes.

Singer Inácio Rios gets things started at 8:30PM at Lapa’s Carioca da Gema and singer and composer Toninho Geraes will follow at 10:30PM. Geraes has composed for artists including Martinho da Vila and Zeca Pagodinho and during his show tonight, he will perform their hits, as well as his own compositions. He will also reinterpret the works of Moacyr Luz, Paulinho da Viola, and Chico Buarque, among others.

Forró and Salsa Leviano (Lapa)
Tonight at Lapa’s Leviano bar it’s time to dance. The group Mano a Mano will start things off with salsa and merengue on the first floor, while on the second floor the weekly Forró Leviano party will present Marcelo Mimoso and Trio Remelexo. Additionally DJ Angolano will spin salsa and DJ Léo Araripe will spin forró during the night.
