Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight the Festival Multiplicidade presents HOL, an audiovisual project by conceptual artist Henrique Roscoe, live at Oi Futuro Flamengo.

This will be the first time in four years that Roscoe returns to the Festival Multiplicidade, currently in its tenth season.

Tonight, during a performance entitled, “synap.sys”, lasers will be synchronized with sounds to symbolize neurons and synapses in the brain. The performance deals with the concepts of memory and thought.

Well known for creating new tools, both software and hardware, for his projects, for “synap.sys,” Roscoe constructed a hybrid instrument with strings which sound and communicate with the computer to produce new sounds and images, creating a true audiovisual experience.

Similar to activity in the brain, the lights will connect and move around like one neuron flowing to another neuron across a synapse.

He will also reinterpret the works of Moacyr Luz, Paulinho da Viola, and Chico Buarque, among others.
