Tantric Therapy Trend Booming in Chile Among Those Seeking Pleasure and Wellness
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Tantric or sensitive massage, as this type of therapy is also known, helps to improve mood and release hormones that boost the immune system, among other benefits, according to those who have tried them.

Constanza is a therapist and works in one of the best known tantric therapy centers in the Chilean capital. Infobae interviewed her in the same place where erogenous massages are offered, and which are described as a rush through the whole body releasing hormones that promote physical and spiritual well-being. Hence, what for some has always been seen from a perspective limited to pleasure for pleasure’s sake, nowadays in Chile gains traction as an alternative therapy that keeps the body in good physical, spiritual and mental health, they note.
This trend was not known as a therapeutic alternative, instead it was associated with payment for pleasure. However, in recent years a kind of circuit began to be formed that mutated from the casual sexual encounter, towards something more ambitious. This is how Constanza describes it, who at 29 years of age has three years of experience as a tantric therapist. “There is no formal name that describes my craft, the truth is that we still operate in a rather underground way. But little by little the issue has been liberated,” she acknowledges.
Andres Guarda, a psychologist specializing in sexuality, acknowledges that this is an attractive way to offer another type of adventure, associated with modern sexuality, with historical roots. “It allows us to discover more secrets about our bodies, generally those things we are not used to doing with our partners, leading to experiences that are limited to the external, and of course, meeting someone for a casual contact repeatedly also becomes monotonous. That is why, little by little, new alternatives emerged that won over users of this service. Then I convince myself that what I am doing, or what is being done to me, is done for a good reason, until it becomes a physical need,” he says.
The expert’s reference is to the concept of “tantric massage” as that coming from the tantras, which are sacred Hindu books that can be extracted from different rituals and teachings. For Eastern cultures, tantra is a method to pursue and achieve personal growth through physical pleasure and through massage one can activate parts of the body that allow us to achieve physical and mental well-being.
The expert stresses that it will always be healthy for the body to undergo pleasure sessions. “Let’s not forget that the oriental premise of medicine is different from what we know in western countries. For eastern cultures, the body is considered as a whole, it is the union between the body and the spirit, therefore when we are sick we should not only be in physical pain, but the treatment should also consider the origin of the discomfort. In short, the relationship between the body and the soul is paramount,” he describes.
Constanza relates her experiences. “Many men come here to confess. To talk about their problems and to free themselves. In addition to seeking the massage itself, clients come looking for a listening ear,” she says.
What does the massage offered as tantric therapy consist of?
“The client comes and is welcomed by some masseurs, the first thing to do is to show that we care that he or she is here. The massage has relaxation or de-stressing features. They begin softly, I personally ensure that it is very soft at the beginning. Hopefully nothing will disturb or interrupt the session. Cell phones are turned off. Halfway into the massage we begin to apply some tantric techniques, the goal is for the patient to reach a degree of excitement that lasts long enough to apply the touch, which is the most critical part of the procedure … that is the secret,” she says.

Do women come too?
“Sure… women come… they come alone and in couples. When they are a couple we attend them on side by side tables, that’s why I’m telling you that this has gradually become a more recognized and well regarded therapy. Those who come and really feel better, keep coming and invite more people to whom they want to provide the well-being they have already achieved, so if the aim is well-being, neither envy nor criticism are considered”.
What does this “touch” consist of?
It is a method that seeks to relax the organs and the mind by sending out pleasure signals. Through massage, the goal is to deactivate the mind to reach a meditative state. Not only the body relaxes, but the mind as well. Then we aim for physical sensations to go hand in hand with good spiritual and mental sensations. But I can’t tell you how it’s done (laughs)”.
At her workplace, Constanza is the oldest of the three women who give erogenous massages. In Santiago, the capital of Chile, there are several other places offering the same service. “All three of us work here and, occasionally, when there are female clients who make an appointment with a man, we call a specialist who is a kinesiologist, and has also learned the techniques of tantric massage. But we only call him when we have female customers who book him,” she adds.
What do you study to become a tantric therapist?
“I studied massage therapy and while studying, I began to investigate tantric courses available online. I began to learn and made contact with a center of tantric therapies in Spain. There are many testimonies of people who have notably improved their health thanks to this therapy”.
How much has your service changed because of the pandemic?
“Well, very much so, because we can’t serve anyone in quarantine. As far as health protocols are concerned, we are required to wear gloves and masks. In addition, the ointments we use had to be mixed with doses of alcohol to reduce any type of contagion”.
The same Tantric Therapy Center website in which Constanza works offers a service backed by a study that refers to the benefits of orgasms on physical and mental health. It is described in the text that “reaching an orgasm triggers a surge of dopamine, a chemical associated with our ability to feel pleasure”. In addition, it mentions the release of oxytocin, commonly known as the “love hormone”.
According to psychologist and sexuality expert Andres Guarda, “studies have not yet been conducted to determine what level of immunity the body reaches through an orgasm, but what can be attested is that the set of sensations that an orgasm causes releases hormones that are healthy for the body and mind as a whole. If we consider masturbation, studies have shown that the number of white blood cells increases with this practice,” he adds.
One of the main premises of this type of therapeutic center is confidentiality. “We cannot disclose data or details on patients who decide to undergo this type of therapy. From what I pointed out before, there is still a majority of people who relate this to prostitution or that the clients are deviants. We are convinced that this helps and contributes to well-being, and how can something that people themselves recognize as beneficial be bad,” Constanza states.

Andres, one of the clients that Constanza herself talked into sending a message about the results of these tantric therapies, explains that it has only been a benefit for him. “I started going about a year ago, every week or two. Now, because of the pandemic, I’ve been forced to miss sessions, but I only have good things to say. Had I not been a tantric therapy patient I would not have achieved the peace of mind, the release of stress, the physical well-being that I did. Because of my work, I have to be very focused on paperwork and competence, and honestly the therapy helps me cope with all this burden. But I insist, it’s not a session or two, because it must be seen as a treatment. I feel like I benefit every time I attend,” he describes.
The prices for each session ranges from 40,000 pesos (US$56) to 60,000 pesos (US$83). “It depends on the duration and the type of massage,” says Constanza.
