STF Justice Moraes keeps 354 suspects of vandalism in Brasília under arrest

The Justice of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes continued this Wednesday (18) the analysis of the situation of the prisoners after the acts of vandalism in Brasília.

So far, 354 have had arrest in flagrante delicto converted into preventive detention and 220 people have obtained provisional release through precautionary measures.

In a note, the Court informed that the prediction is that all the cases of the detainees will be analyzed until Friday (20).

Since the arrests on January 8th and 9th, 1,459 custody hearings have been held until the 17th.

In the cases of 354 arrests in flagrante delicto converted into preventive ones, the Justice pointed out evidence of crimes such as: terrorist acts, including preparatory acts; criminal association; violent abolition of the democratic rule of law; coup d’etat; threat; persecution; and incitement to crime.

With regard to the 220 people who obtained provisional release, Moraes determined the following precautionary measures: ban on leaving the district; home collection at night and on weekends using an electronic ankle bracelet to be installed by the Federal Police in Brasília; obligation to report to the Court of Execution of the county of origin within 24 hours and weekly attendance, every Monday.

Other measures are: the ban on leaving the country, with the obligation to deliver passports to the Judgment of Execution in the District of origin, within a period of five days; the cancellation of all passports issued in Brazil, rendering them void; immediate suspension of any documents for carrying firearms, as well as any registration certificates to carry out firearms collection, sport shooting and hunting activities; banning the use of social networks; and prohibition of communicating with the others involved, by any means.
