The Sunday roda at the Pedra do Sal — the rocky outcrop at the foot of Morro da Conceição in the Saúde, recognised since 2005 as a remnant urban quilombo and a foundational site for the development of carioca urban samba in the early 20th century. The format is acoustic, the rules are strict: silence during music, finger-snap applause, self-service from the refrigerator, the bill paid on the way out. Cash, small bills only. The Sunday roda is one of the more intimate Bip Bip nights — fewer of the festival-following weekend crowd, more of the regulars who have been coming since the bar’s first decade. Five minutes’ walk from Blue Note Rio for those finishing the Cozido & Bossa Nova in the afternoon. The roda often runs past 9 pm — the format is “until the musicians tire” rather than fixed close.

Circo Voador dark Sunday. Beco do Rato closes at 21h instead of running late. Pedra do Sal Sunday roda continues past 11 pm but the energy is calmer than Friday/Monday peaks. Nova Capela kitchen runs late as always — the cabrito assado after a Lapa Sunday afternoon. Tomorrow Monday: Pedra do Sal Monday roda 7 pm to midnight (the famous one — 20 years), Samba do Trabalhador with Moacyr Luz at Renascença Clube in Andaraí. Tuesday: Bip Bip choro returns.
